OMXThe Helsinki Stock Exchange is one of the stock exchanges operated by OMX Exchanges.

OMX Exchanges owns and operates the stock exchanges in Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius as well as the central securities depositories in Finland, Estonia and Latvia. It is the largest securities marketplace in Northern Europe and offers access to 80 percent of the Nordic and Baltic equity market.

OMX Exchanges belongs to OMX Group. The group’s other division is OMX Technology which is a provider of transaction technology. OMX is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and the Helsinki Stock Exchange.

The OMX web site is a good starting point in the Internet when you need information about Nordic or Baltic securities market.

Share Prices, delayed by 15 minutes are also available on HEX. For real time information contact to the data vendors.

Trading members

Both domestic and foreign banks and investment service companies can operate as stock and derivatives brokerage firms on Helsinki Stock Exchange.

Legislation and regulation

If you are interested of the legal framework, HEX provides an overview to Finnish legislation for financial markets. The Securities Markets Act (pdf) regulates the public trade of securities. The site also introduces the rules of the securities exhange. See Corporate Governance Recommendation (pdf) and Guidelines for Insiders (pdf) for further information.

The Financial Supervision Authority (FSA) supervises financial markets and participants in Finland. FSA regulations complement the Finnish legislation for credit institutions and capital market.

The Finnish Ministry of Finance is part of Government. Ministry is responsible for strategic policy on the financial markets and ensures that the legislative framework for Finland’s financial markets is workable. The web site offers a political view on Finnish financial markets.
