Scholarships.

The scholarships granted by the Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion are mainly awarded for postgraduate studies, research related to stock markets and for continuous education.

Mela insurance for recipients of grants or scholarships

The Farmers’ Social Insurance Institution Mela is responsible for the statutory pension (MYEL) and occupational accident insurance (MATA) of the persons who have a grant or a scholarship and who have to be insured in Finland as of the beginning of 2009. This insurance is mandatory. The insurance secure, for the work on grant or scholarship, offered by Mela is available also for the foreign recipients of grants or scholarships if they are covered by the Finnish social security. Scholarships in 2011

The Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion granted three scholarships to the following researchers:

  • M.Sc.(Econ.) Antti Miihkinen, Aalto yliopisto, kauppakorkeakoulu: Essays on Corporate Disclosure (5 000€)
  • M.Sc.(Econ.) Henrik Keinonen, Svenska Handelshögskola: Omistusrakenteen vaikutus yrityksen kannattavuuteen ja arvostustasoon Suomessa ennen ja jälkeen finanssikriisin 2001-2009 (5 000€)
  • M.Sc.(Econ.) Jukka Ilomäki, Tampereen yliopisto: Koe Beauty Contest-ilmiöstä rahoitusmarkkina-ammattilaisilla (5 000€)
  • Group of researchers from Jyväskylä univerisity and National Consumer Research Center: Toimijat, kanavat ja tavat nuorten taloudellisen osaamisen edistämisessä, TOKATA (10 000€)


Scholarships in 2010

The Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion granted three scholarships to the following researchers:

  • Tuomo Haapalainen, Oulun yliopisto, Gambling with the House Money in the Stock Market (5 000€)
  • Emilia Peni, Vaasan yliopisto, Naisjohtajuuden vaikutus yrityksen taloudelliseen tilanteeseen ja tilinpäätöksen laatuun (5 000€)
  • Johanna Pentikäinen, Aalto universitetet, Suomalaisten osakesijoittajien vastuullisuutta koskevat näkemykset (5 000€)

The Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion granted in April of  2009 six scholarships to the following researchers:

  • Mr. Matti Keloharju, Helsingin kauppakorkeakoulu, ”Intelligence and Stock Market Participation” (5 000€)
  • Mr. Nhu Do, Vaasan yliopisto, ”Finnish Equity Issues Puzzle: Testing the Investment-based Explanation” (5 000€)
  • Mr. Jukka Ilomäki, Tampereen yliopisto, ”Koe sijoittajan harhaisista odotuksista, eksperimenttitutkimus (5 000€)
  • Mr. Veikko Vahtera, Turun yliopisto, ”Osakeomistuksen riski ja sääntely” (3 000€)
  • Ms. Mirjam Lehenkari and Mr. Jukka Perttunen, Oulun yliopisto, ”The disposition effect: Underlying mechanisms and implications for individual investors” (3 000€)
  • Mr. Antti Miihkinen, Helsingin kauppakorkeakoulu, ”Yritysten tiedottaminen tilinpäätöksissä ja vuosikertomuksissa” (3 000€)

The Foundation granted in April of 2007 six scholarships each worth 5 000 euros to the following researchers:

Scholarships in 2006

In April 2006 the Foundation granted four scholarships, each worth 5 000 euros, to the following researchers:

Doctor of Business Administration Seppo Ikäheimo and Doctor of Business Administration Matti Keloharju from the Helsinki School of Economics for research called ”Se on vain niin tyhmää maksaa liikaa”

Master of Law Janne Häyrynen and Master of Law, Master of Business Administration Jarmo Parkkonen for the book ”Yleisteos arvopaperimarkkinoiden sisäpiirisäännöksistä”

Master of Business Administration Mika Pirneskoski from University of Oulu for research titled ”Yksityissijoittajien markkinakäyttäytyminen Helsingin Pörssissä”

Master of Business Administration, Master of Law Reijo Knuutinen from the University of Helsinki for research called ”Muoto ja sisältö rahoitus- ja sijoitusinstrumenttien verotuksessa”

Scholarships in 2004

In June 2004 the Foundation granted three scholarships, each worth 5 000 euros, to the following researchers:

Master of Business Administration Mirjam Lehenkari from the University of Oulu for research on the investment behaviour of private individuals.

Master of Business Administration Katja Ahoniemi from the Helsinki School of Economics for a doctoral thesis related to the derivatives markets.

Licentiate of Business Administration Tomi Viitala from the Turku School of Economics for research on development possibilities of venture capital funds from the perspective of taxation.


Scholarships in 2003

The Foundation granted in June of 2003 three scholarships each worth 5 000 euros to the following researchers:

To the work group consisting of professor Matti Keloharju, professor Sami Torstila and assistant Samuli Knüpfer from the Helsinki School of Economics, for the research on the use and affect of bonus shares in privatization share issues called ”Incentives for retail investors in privatizations”.

To M.Sc. of psychology Joachim von Weissenberg of Åbo Akademi, for the research called ”Hur förstå marknadens sentiment”.

To Master of Law Esa Niinimäki of University of Helsinki, for the research called ”Kiinteistöjen arvopaperistaminen - Epäsuoran kiinteistösijoitustoiminnan oikeudelliset puitteet Suomessa ja ulkomailla erityisesti kiinteistörahastolainsäädännön kehittämisen näkökulmasta” (Securitization of real-estate).
